UGA Multi-Disciplinary Greenhouse
Client: The University of Georgia
Size of Project: 7,485 sq ft
The Multidisciplinary Greenhouse project consisted of the expansion to the Cool Season Greenhouses for the UGA College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. It includes a new 2,100 sqft headhouse building and eight additional greenhouse labs, tying in to the existing Cool Season Greenhouse and adding approximately 5,400 sqft of additional greenhouse floor space. The greenhouse labs are equipped with the evaporative cooling pads, horizontal air flow fans, shade clothes, sidewall exhaust fans, heaters, irrigation systems, and LED grow lights; all sequenced to provide individual control parameters at each bench row. Two additional Wadsworth SEED controllers link to the existing Cool Season controls system for a seamless interaction and control of all greenhouse lab systems from any one of the three main control modules strategically located within the shared greenhouse corridor and headhouse. Exterior improvements include a new vehicle entry drive for service vehicles and deliveries as well as a sidewalk with walkway canopy to provide a pathway for researchers to access the new headhouse from the existing Agronomy Seed facility.
