Client: Hillsborough County Public Schools

Size of Project: 120,000 sq ft

Hillsborough High School, originally built in 1927, was a complete historic rehabilitation project which included completely new fire protection, HVAC and electrical systems, interior finishes, repair and restoration of carpentry, and removal of “bricked in” panels and replacing the existing windows with new windows reminiscent of the original. The theater was renovated included refurbishment of stained glass windows and 1,080 seat auditorium. The project was a multiple phase project, utilizing double-shifts and creative logistics to accommodate the school’s use of about 2,500 students and faculty during construction. 2007 ABC “Excellence in Construction” PROJECT OF THE YEAR • 2010 AIA Florida Honor Award - Greater Florida-Caribbean Region • 2008 Tampa Historic Preservation Award • 2007 Planning Commission Community Design Awards: Abell Award for Historic Restoration / Preservation
